KUCHING, May 1 (Bernama) -- The Information Ministry should continue the live telecast of the parliament session over RTM1 to enable the people to see for themselves the actions of their representatives in the House.
Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said the government must be flexible on the issue as it was too early to make a judgement on the telecast.
"I feel the government should determine if this is a first-day phenomenon or if it will continue," he said at a news conference today.
Wan Junaidi, who does not agree that the live telecast be reviewed, said the parliament session just began yesterday and there was a possibility that the attitudes of the members would change in the coming sittings.
He said after the wide publicity on the behaviour of the members, disrupting the question-and-answer session, there might be a positive change among the members to show respect during the session.
Last night, Information Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the live telecast of the oral question-and-answer session might be reviewed as yesterday's proceeding was interrupted by the parliamentarians.
