GEORGE TOWN: Between a rock and a hard place.
This is where former deputy chief minister Datuk Abdul Rashid Abdullah has found himself with a 14-day deadline given by the state government to clarify alleged improprieties in land deals or risk public disclosure on the matter.
Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said the state executive council had given him the green light yesterday to go public on the matter.
But he will only do so after giving Abdul Rashid a chance to clarify the matter in private.
"After all, he was the one who challenged the state into this ... we have no choice but to accept his challenge.
"I believe he will come and see me eventually," he said after chairing the weekly state executive council meeting in Komtar.
Lim had said on Tuesday that the state government would go public with the alleged improprieties after obtaining approval from executive councillors.
